Full Renovation
Located on the shores of Thompson Lake, this modest lakehouse renovation reworks an existing structure to better align with its setting. The original layout underutilized key areas of the home and limited the relationship between interior spaces and the lake. The design refines the plan to improve functionality while maintaining the scale and character of the existing building.
The renovation prioritizes natural materials that reinforce a direct connection to the shoreline. Wood finishes, stone elements, and a restrained palette create continuity between interior and exterior, allowing the house to feel grounded within its lakeside setting. Existing materials were selectively retained and complemented with new elements that maintain a consistent architectural language.
Openings were expanded and reconfigured to introduce larger, more efficient windows that increase daylight and frame views to the water. These changes bring a greater sense of openness to the interior while strengthening the visual connection to the lake. Interior spaces were reorganized to improve flow and usability, allowing primary living areas to engage more directly with light, view, and exterior space.
